Own-Arranged Vietnam Travel Itinerary

Here I wanna share a 11D/10N travel itinerary to Vietnam. Feel free to use it as a reference for your own planning. 
I arranged this programme based on Vietnamese local tour agency, Indochina Legend and GoAsia Travel for Halong Bay Cruise package. Enjoy!

Wednesday, 25th September - Day 1

Jakarta - HCMC - Hanoi
- Pick up at Hanoi airport
- Dinner at local restaurant
- Transfer to hotel (Quoc Hoa)

Thursday, 26th September - Day 2

Hanoi City Tour
- Pick up at hotel
- Hanoi city tour: HCM Museum and Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature
- Lunch at local restaurant
- Visit Hoan Kiem Lake, Ethnology museum, shopping at Old Quarter
- Watch Water Puppet Show
- Dinner at local restaurant
- Transfer to hotel (Aranya)

Friday, 27th September - Day 3

Halong Bay Cruise day 1 with Alova Gold Cruises
- 07.45 ~ 08.30 am: pick up at hotel then drive to Halong Bay
- 10.30 am: stop over and stretching legs
- 12.45 pm: boarding cruise with details
                     * Welcome mocktail
                     * Safety briefing and check in cabin
                     * Lunch: Vietnamese dish
                     * Kayaking/swimming at Ti Top Island
                     * Cooking class and happy hour
- 07.30 pm: Dinner
                     Squid fishing/ happy hour

Saturday, 28th September - Day 4

Halong Bay Cruise day 2 with Alova Gold Cruises
- 07.00 ~ 09.30 am: 
                     * Wake up call
                     * Captain's breakfast
                     * Visit Sung Sot Cave
- 09.30 am: Check out and clear the bill
- 10.00 ~ 12.00 am: 
                     * Vegetable carving
                     * Disembarking the cruise
                     * Lunch at local restaurant
- 12.30 pm: drive back to Hanoi
- 02.00 pm: stop over and stretching legs
4.30 ~ 05.30 pm: arrive at hotel (Aranya)

Sunday, 29th September - Day 5

Perfume Pagoda 1 Day Tour
- Pick up at hotel
- Transfer to Perfume Pagoda (Ha Tay Province), about 2 hrs driving to reach Ben Duc boat harbour
- One hour trip on a small boat -rowed by local people on the stream named Yen.
- Take about 1 hour to trek up to the main Pagoda - Cave on the top of the highest mountain in the range
- Trekking down by the same route
- Lunch time in the restaurant at the foot of mountain. 
Visit Thien Tru Pagoda near the restaurant
- One more hour on the boat back to the harbour
- Drive back to Hanoi. Arrive Hanoi at 6.00pm
- Dinner at local restaurant
- Transfer to hotel (Quoc Hoa)

Monday, 30th September - Day 6

Hanoi - Trang An Grottoes
- Pick up at hotel 
- Transfer to Trang An
- Take a boat trip to visit Trang An grottoes which is a gathering of 31 valleys, 50 cross-water caves, and home to 600 kinds of flora and over 200 kinds of fauna
- Lunch at local restaurant/picnic
- Continue to visit Bai Dinh Temple
- Drive back to Ninh Binh
- Dinner at local restaurant
- Check in hotel at Ninh Binh

Tuesday, 1st October - Day 7

Hoa Lu - Tam Coc 1 Day Tour 
- Check out & leave the hotel at Ninh Binh
- Transfer to Tam Coc. Take 5 minute-walk to the boat station and start 2 hours-boat trip to visit Tam Coc. Known as “Halong Bay on land”, Tam Coc are three limestone caves stretching along Ngo Dong river
- Lunch in Tam Coc at local restaurant and enjoy lunch served with goat meat 
- Transfer to Hoa Lu Ancient Capital
- 4:00pm leave Hoa Lu and drive back to Hanoi.  Arrive Hanoi at 6:30pm. 
- Check in hotel at Hanoi (Quoc Hoa)
- Special buffet dinner at famous restaurant

Wednesday, 2nd October - Day 8

Duong Lam Ancient Village 1 Day Tour - HCMC
- Pick up at hotel 
- Travel west of Hanoi to Duong Lam village, a purely agricultural village of the Northern Red River delta where still preserve many hundred-year-old houses
- Bike along tiny ancient alleys to visit Mong Phu temple in Mong Phu hamlet 
- Continue riding around the village to discover the daily life and farming working of Vietnamese peasants along the terrace with a stop in two ancient houses: the biggest ancient house was build 200 years ago and the most ancient house back to 400 years ago.
- After lunch and resting, visit Ngo Quyen temple and Phung Hung temple
- Biking to visit Mia Pagoda (other hamlet in Duong Lam village)
- Drive back to Hanoi. Tour finishes at 5:00 pm
- Transfer to airport. Flight to HCMC with Vietjet
- Arrive HCMC, pick up at airport
- Transfer to hotel at HCMC (Kingston)

Thursday, 3rd October - Day 9

HCMC & Chu Chi Tunnel Full Day Tour
- Pick up at hotel  
- Excursion to the famous Cu Chi tunnels
- Lunch at local restaurant
- In the afternoon visit Ho Chi Minh City: The War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office
- Tour finishes at 5:30 pm

- Dinner in local restaurant
- Transfer to hotel (Kingston)

Friday, 4th October - Day 10

Mekong Delta Cruise My Tho & Ben Tre Full Day Tour
- Pick up at hotel  
- One-and-half-hour drive along National Highway 1 brings you to the beautiful rural district of Trung Luong
- Take a motor boat to enter My Tho city through Bao Dinh natural canal
- Visit My Tho's colorful street fruit market alongside the canal to soak up the lively atmosphere and watch the locals trade their produce
- Take a leisurely cruise on the Tien River to Tortoise island. En route, view the fishing port, the traditional stilt houses and boat building workshops, and the other three evocatively-named islands -Dragon, Phoenix and Unicorn islands
- Enjoy lunch (Elephant Ear fish)
- Visiting the coconut candy mill, then take rowing boat trip along the small canal
- Continue to Ben Tre province (the country of coconuts), to see typical agricultural model known as "Garden-Pond-Cage"
- Enjoy a relaxing cup of honey tea before returning to My Tho via Tan Thach natural canal
- Return to Ho Chi Minh City at 5:30 pm
- Drop for Shopping/night market around Ben Thanh
- NO DINNER (our own dinner)

Saturday, 5th October - Day 11

HCMC - Jakarta
- Breakfast & Check out Hotel
- Free time 
- Transfer to the airport according to flight hours
